Specialising in reputation, crisis and issues management communications, Sue Stapely FIPR FRSA provides comprehensive strategic communications counsel, with unrivalled experience, particularly working in the legal sector.

A former BBC Television programme maker, qualified solicitor and partner in a national law firm, politician and broadcaster, Sue has been providing counsel to a wide range of clients for twenty years.   Head of Public Relations at the Law Society of England and Wales before moving into consultancy, Sue was a director of Fishburn Hedges, the award-winning London communications, branding and design consultancy and then associated with prestigious Quiller Consultants for a decade and with international law firm management consultancy, the Edge Group.

Sue’s clients come from all walks of life and range from major international businesses, law firms and their clients to independent schools, regulators, household name enterprises  and high profile individuals. Her work is primarily discreetly defending and maintaining the reputations of organisations and individuals facing damaging issues and press exposure, often as a result of change, crisis or events involving the law. She also provides training and coaching in all media, presentation and communications skills.

Her extra-curricular activities are mainly in the arts. She is a Governor of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Chair of Playground Proms (bringing classical music to schools in deprived areas) and an advisor to Compton Verney (the historical house, grounds and art gallery).  Until recently she was a Trustee of the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art actively involved in the creation of a £28m new theatre and rehearsal block in Hammersmith, was a founding Board Member of the Media Standards Trust to raise standards in journalism and was on the board of Brighton Dome & Festival.  She has also served on the boards of the government’s Countryside Agency, the Royal Court Theatre, the National Consumer Council, the London Ambulance Service and an NHS Trust.  She’s a Fellow of the Institute of Public Relations and of the Royal Society for the Arts, a member of International Women’s Forum, the Law Society and the Media Society.
